NOTES: Many new series begin for the weekend. There a couple of non interest but most should be very intriguing regarding the odds. An example is in PIT today where STL is a pick’em against the Pirates. This series is an example of how tight some of the odds will be. I expect the same in MIN, CIN, TB, WSH and TOR.
The games with 20+ variances today are NYM 31, BOS 21, KC 36 and SDP 52 basis points. I have no interest in most of these games from a betting stand point regarding the sides. However, I am interested to at least look into the Royals. My model suggest MIN -104 more like pick’em and the bookmaker says -140. That creates edge to KC. They will be throwing Singer today. He is a very under the radar quality pitcher with a SIERA of 3.18. Neither team has been hitting so this could be a low scoring game or series.
OAK Mike Fiers makes his 2021 debut. He will be up against the best BAL starter in John Means. ARI Bumgarner starts again today. He had 3 awful starts to the season and now has backed them up with two quality efforts. The question is whether he is on track again or not. CLE Shane Bieber throws today against the White Sox. He is projected as the 3rd best pitcher in MLB, only DeGrom and Cole are projected better.
